Jeffrey A. Bubis, DO

Dr. Jeffrey Bubis is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine at Cancer Specialists of North Florida Baptist South location.

Dr. Bubis’ areas of interest include breast, colon and lung cancers. He feels fortunate to have relationships between the patients and their families because there is no other specialty in medicine that offers that opportunity.

Dr. Bubis is an avid believer in personalized care. "All cancers aren’t the same. What happens in an individual patient’s body and their cells that leads to the development of cancer is unique." He views his job as an oncologist more than just helping patients live longer, he wants them to live longer with good quality of life. "My job is to make sure that fighting their cancer and living fully aren’t mutually exclusive."

There have been many advancements in hematology and oncology, one being the drug Imatinib. Imatinib is a pill that targets a specific mutation and changes the treatment pattern completely in the vast majority of patients. Dr. Bubis says, "Fifteen years ago, they would have required chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants. Today, they take a pill and many have been in remission for over a decade. That is truly a miracle."

Dr. Bubis has learned a lot from his patients thus far in his career. He believes the most important thing is to live every day fully. Though it's a difficult thing to abide by, none of us know what the future holds.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Bubis enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and son, traveling, photography, reading, and the outdoors.
