BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Ilicia Shugarman is board certified in medical oncology and practices at our Beaches location.

Dr. Shugarman completed all her education and further training at the University of Florida. She was still in school when her mother received a diagnosis of chronic leukemia.

“She was one of the first patients to receive Imatinib, which is one of the targeted therapies,” she says. “Her strength, courage, and determination inspired me to enter the field of oncology.”

“My mother’s doctor taught me that cancer care is not just about medical treatment,” she continues. “It’s about being a source of emotional support and comfort for your patients and their families. I aim to be honest with them.”

Because of her mother’s experience, Dr. Shugarman especially loves the patient/physician relationship. “There is a mutual trust and respect that develops during cancer care,” she explains. “My philosophy is to treat every patient like they are a member of my own family. I strive to maintain respect, honestly, and humility as I care for my patients.”

“I truly respect the universal strength of cancer patients,” she says. “Nothing matches it.”

Dr. Shugarman and her husband settled in Jacksonville after falling in love with the area. “Finding CSNF was a bonus,” she explains. “I’m honored to work with such a talented group of physicians. Together we collaborate to provide patients with truly personalized care.”

Dr. Shugarman provides complete care for patients with cancer and blood disorders, including melanoma, lymphoma, and breast and stomach cancers.

A devoted wife and mother, she enjoys spending her free time in the company of the ones she loves, preferably at the beach.

If you are satisfied with your care, please consider leaving Dr. Shugarman a review!
