BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Emily Tanzler is board certified in radiation oncology and practices at our Fleming Island and St. Augustine locations.

Dr. Tanzler earned two bachelor degrees from Vanderbilt University and the University of Florida. Upon completion of her undergraduate degrees, Dr. Tanzler earned her Doctor of Medicine from UF.

She first learned about CSNF and its desire to open a radiation oncology program during her residency. In 2014, she joined CSNF as one of the program’s founders. Dr. Tanzler provides complete care for patients with cancer, including breast, cervical, uterine, and pancreatic cancers.

Her goal is to provide care that allows patients to maintain their quality of life during radiation therapy treatment. “Ensuring that my patients can live an active life while receiving life-saving care is important,” she says. “I do this by carefully planning treatment and with the support of our ancillary staff. Every cancer treatment has some type of side effect, but I never want it to slow them down too much”

Dr. Tanzler has a special place in her heart for cancers that affect women. “The diagnosis of these cancers can be devastating,” she says. “I am sympathetic to a patients fears and place emphasis on treating the patient as a whole.

“This is part of the reason I love CSNF’s comprehensive approach so much,” she continues. “I have the opportunity to work with my medical oncology colleagues, nurses, social workers, and registered dietitians. Together, we meet all our patients’ needs.”

A Jacksonville native with deep roots in the area, it was only fitting that she returned home to serve her community. When not in the office, Dr. Tanzler enjoys spending time with her husband and family,. Together, they enjoy visiting the beautiful St. Johns River and Jacksonville Beaches, and exploring old Florida.

If you are satisfied with your care, please consider leaving Dr. Tanzler a review!
