Dr. Kevin Hunger is board-certified in medical oncology and practices at CSNF’s Fleming Island location.
Dr. Hunger completed his internship and residency at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He then moved to the West Coast, where he completed his hematology and medical oncology fellowship.
In 1992, Dr. Hunger joined CSNF as one of its original physicians. Throughout his career, he has participated in extensive clinical research focused on novel cancer treatments. This work has earned him the distinction of Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).
He provides care for patients with cancer and blood disorders, including lung cancer, melanoma, and hemolytic anemia.
“I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a physician,” Dr. Hunger explains. “During medical school, I had a life-changing experience with a young leukemia patient. Witnessing the partnership among doctor, patient, and family solidified my desire to pursue oncology.”
“CSNF puts patients first—we never want them to wait too long or wonder what comes next. Through a team approach and numerous ancillary services, we are able to practice true, patient-centered medicine. The type of medicine I always wanted to practice is what I’ve been able to do at CSNF, and I feel blessed.”
Dr. Hunger’s faith is an important part of how he serves his patients. “I am thankful for the grace Jesus has offered all of us,” he says. “I seek to extend that love and sincere care to my patients. I respect their needs and decisions as unique individuals.”
When he is not in the office, Dr. Hunger enjoys playing tennis. He also organizes and leads high-adventure backpacking trips for his Boy Scout troop. His favorite activity, though, is spending quality time with his wife of more than 25 years.
