Dr. Nishitha Thumallapally is board-certified in medical oncology and practices at our St. Augustine location.
Originally from India, Dr. T, as patients call her, earned her medical degree from SVS Medical College. After completing further training in India, Dr. T moved to State Island where she completed her medical oncology fellowship.
“Being an oncologist involves life-long learning; however the reward always outweighs the challenge,” Dr. T explains. “I’m able to develop deep and long lasting relationships with my patients. I find strength in caring for them at their most vulnerable point.”
“I don’t have a person connection to cancer, which I am thankful for,” she says. “But during my early career I was able to care for oncology patients and found my true calling.”
“I try not to treat the disease, but rather the person with symptoms,” she says. “Tailoring treatment plans to the individual is important. Putting them first, ahead of anything else, is always my top priority.”
Dr. T provides complete care for patients with cancer and blood disorders, including lung, breast, and blood cancers.
After several years of training in New York, Dr. T was excited for sunnier Florida weather, which led her to finding CSNF. When not in the office, Dr. T enjoys traveling and dancing with her husband and their two daughters.
