BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Richard Cassidy is a board-certified in radiation oncology and practices at CSNF’s Fleming Island and Southpoint locations.

Born and raised in North Florida, Dr. Cassidy earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Florida. He then completed his radiation oncology training at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University where he was chief resident.

Dr. Cassidy provides complete care for patients with cancer, including prostate, lung, and skin cancers. He appreciates that CSNF is able to offer the latest in life-saving technology, like radiopharmaceuticals and theranostics.

Like many others, Dr. Cassidy has personal experience with cancer. Both grandfathers died when he was young, and he lost his grandmother soon after he finished medical school.

“These losses sharpened my interest and focus in improving oncology care” he says. “It’s important to consider someone’s personal beliefs, wishes, and goals. Cancer care involves treating the whole patient – not just their diagnosis.”

Having grown up playing sports, Dr. Cassidy likens complex cancer care to a team sport. He enjoys working with all staff who help provide excellent patient care. This includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, MAs, and many others.

“This cooperation makes for a close-knit atmosphere, which ultimately benefits patients and their families,” he says. “The honor to serve my community and to directly give back to my hometown gives me extreme pride.”

When he is not at work, Dr. Cassidy enjoys spending time with his wife, their two sons, and their families. When not running after his boys, he enjoys struggling to play basketball and golf, and being a slightly over-the-top Gators fan!

If you are satisfied with your care, please consider leaving Dr. Cassidy a review!
