Ishan Patel, MD, is a hematologist/oncologist at our Riverside and Northside locations.
Originally from India, Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from Pramukhswami Medical College. After medical school, he came to America completed his medical oncology fellowship at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, VA.
Having experienced cancer personally through his mother’s diagnosis, Dr. Patel deeply understands the emotional rollercoaster that patients and families endure.
“During my mom’s cancer journey, I learned the emotions patients and families go through,” he says. “I also learned why compassionate, complete care matters.” “That time in my life shaped me as a physician, and I strive to treat every patient with clinical skill, empathy, presence, and respect.”
“Helping a patient live a longer, healthier life is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work,” he continues. “It’s a feeling that blends hope, gratitude, and joy. The most rewarding thing is seeing someone regain their strength.”
Dr. Patel has strong family ties to Jacksonville, including his brother-in-law, our very own Dr. Karawadia.
“My family lives here and being close to them gives me a strong sense of foundation and stability. That, in turn, allows me to be fully present for my patients,” he explains.
Dr. Patel provides complete care for patients with cancer and blood disorders, including lung, prostate, renal, and stomach cancers.
Outside the office, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, and watching cricket.
