Lakshmi Boyapati, MD is a hematologist/oncologist at our Palm Coast location. Originally from India, Dr. Boyapati received her medical degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, beginning her medical career as an OB/GYN. After practicing in India for 11 years, Dr. Boyapati moved to the United States where she completed an internal medicine residency at Brookdale University Hospital in New York. She remained there to complete her hematology and oncology fellowship, where she later held the role of chief fellow.
Like many, Dr. Boyapati has had personal experience with cancer:
“About four of my near and dear family members were affected by cancer. I’ve seen first-hand how mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausting the entire process can be, and the difference a good oncologist makes. Personalized care and attention makes all the difference, as does staying up-to-date on the latest technologies and medical advancements.”
Learning about the personalized care that CSNF is known for made the decision to join the team that much easier. “The congeniality of the group’s physicians and the genuineness of their care stuck out to me immediately,” Dr. Boyapati says. “I knew right away that this was the best practice to continue my work as an oncologist in.”
This personal experience inspired her to make the switch from gynecologic care to oncology, but despite her career change her personal philosophy of patient care has remained the same:
“It’s important that my patients know that they come first, and that everyone and everything else is number two. It’s my mission to remain the primary advocate for my patients, keeping their health interests first. There should be no limitations.”
A St. Augustine resident, Dr. Boyapati fell in love with the area and people immediately. “The calmness and serenity of the city always reminds me of my grandparents’ home back in India where I spent my early childhood,” she says. When not at the office, Dr. Boyapati unwinds by reading about various cultures and civilizations. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and family.
