RACHEL HERNANDEZ, LCSW

BIOGRAPHY

Rachel Hernandez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at our Northside and Riverside locations. She attended Florida State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology before earning her Master of Social Work. After college, Rachel and her husband made their home in Miami in order to be closer to family where she eventually began her career as an oncology social worker. After two and a half years in South Florida, Rachel was called to return to Jacksonville to serve the community she grew up in.

“Every patient is unique,” says Rachel, “and it’s my personal philosophy to make myself available to them. Whether they are in need of my services at the moment or not, I want them to know that I’m there for them.”

Like many, Rachel has had personal experiences with cancer:

“I’ve lost three of my grandparents to cancer, most recently my maternal grandfather in 2021. This line of work has both helped me grieve their losses and ignited my passion to continue to do what I can do ease the burden placed on patients undergoing treatment. The resilience my grandfather showed while undergoing cancer treatment serves as a daily reminder of just how strong my patients are.”

“I’m proud to be part of a community of dedicated physicians, nurses, and support staff who truly go above and beyond to care for their patients,” she says. “Whether they are newly diagnosed or have been with CSNF for several years, the care shown to everyone is unmatched and exactly what they deserve. It’s truly a blessing to be part of such a dedicated team of individuals.”

When not in the office, Rachel enjoys cooking, baking, and traveling with her husband. The pair are always looking for hidden food and dessert spots around the world.
