Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) is a new technology that allows for thousands of precisely focused radiation beams to be emitted. VMAT allows for “carving” of radiation around a cancer and is delivered in a rotation around the patient as the radiation is continuously modulated like the lens of a camera.
