Miten Patel, MD

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Miten Patel is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology and practices at our Southpoint location. He joined CSNF in 2007. Dr. Patel completed medical school at the Medical College of Virginia in 2001, where he was co-instructor in the Foundations of Clinical Medicine course during his last year of medical school. He completed a residency/fellowship at the University of Florida, Gainesville, in 2007. Dr. Patel has served on the board of directors for St. Vincent’s HealthCare. He is a past president of the medical staff at St Vincent’s Southside and has previously served as chairman, Department of Internal Medicine. He currently serves as chief, Division of Hematology/Oncology, and has also served as the lab director for CSNF.

Dr. Patel emphasizes that informed patients are empowered patients. He has over 15 years of experience with clinical research, including industry and network trials, and serves as a primary investigator on many clinical trials. He worked one-on-one with the 2015 Nobel Prize winner in Medicine, Dr. William C. Campbell, in his lab as his student from 1994 to 1997. Dr. Patel has also co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and won several research awards during the time he spent with Dr. Campbell in his lab.
