Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) is a new technology that allows for thousands of precisely focused radiation beams to be emitted. VMAT allows for “carving” of radiation around a cancer and is delivered in a rotation around the patient as the radiation is continuously modulated like the lens of a camera.

What is VMAT?
What does that mean for me?
The end result is that radiation can be precisely sculpted around the entire tumor while sparing normal healthy tissue and at a faster time, so you spend less time each day on the radiation table. VMAT provides the best of both worlds – speed and accuracy.
